Love it or hate it, social media has infiltrated nearly every aspect of our lives. It’s a way to keep up with your friends, but also a unique opportunity to connect with so many interesting people across the world. Instagram is always the first app I check whenever I have a free moment, and I’ve made sure to follow a variety of different types of accounts. I’ve found that following accounts that align with my interests has really helped me stay motivated and happy, as their posts provide me little doses of happiness throughout the day. Here are my top five favorites, both fitness-related and unrelated!
1. Katrin Davidsdottir (@Katrintanja):
Katrin is the 2015 & 2016 female winner of the Crossfit Games. Her ‘gram is a combination of Crossfit action picture and videos, as well as more personal snapshots of her life. She’s a reminder and inspiration that women are strong, fearless competitors. Katrin advocates for body positivity and the notion that your fitness accomplishments extend beyond just physical changes. Root for Katrin as she competes in the Games again this season!
2. Gina Homolka (@SkinnyTaste):
Gina is a mother of two who combined her love for food and photography to start her recipe blog, Skinny Taste. Gina’s website now receives 3 million visitors who check out her healthy but family-friendly recipes, many of which are healthier adaptations of classics (like Enchiladas and Chicken Parmesan). Her recipes both online and in her cookbook oftentimes are designed to be quick or dumped in a crockpot, which is perfect for a college student. She’s a mother and a mogul who genuinely loves food and what she does, and I’m happy to support her ventures.
3. Kristin Addis (@BemyTravelMuse):
Kristin has been traveling around the world solo since 2012, and has hitchhiked solo across China, done some of the deepest SCUBA dives, and spent two months hiking in Patagonia, to name a few. Her blog is a resource for anyone who wants to travel alone and truly immerse themselves in the culture, and she inspires me to be fearless and adventurous on my own. She is currently in Uganda, trekking through the jungle.
4. Ashley Graham (@TheAshleyGraham):
If you haven’t heard of Ashley before, just know she is probably the biggest plus size model in the game right now. She’s appeared on the cover of Vogue and Sports Illustrated, and is a champion of body acceptance among celebrities. She advocates for a healthy lifestyle, and her Instagram includes snapshots of her travels, work, and fitness activities. Ashley is a prime example that women of all sizes can be successful in the fashion industry.
5. Mindy Weiss (@MindyWeiss):
Mindy is a LA-based party planner who has planned weddings and events for an incredible list of celebrities. She’s a grandma and three-time author who is the best at what she does, and her aesthetic and attention to detail makes me excited to plan my own wedding! Life is worth celebrating, and Mindy’s bright and beautiful world is a great addition to any Instagram feed.
