Healthy fries. Yes, you read that correctly.
I love to experiment with complex spice blends, which is why it comes as no surprise that these sweet potato fries are seasoned with a WEIRD mixture. The good news, though, is that they turned out to be perfect — crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and gone within 30 minutes.
You can use regular orange sweet potatoes for this recipe, but I use Japanese sweet P’s over the regular ones because these have a thicker, less mushy texture. I know you’ll enjoy them, too!
Baked Japanese Sweet Potato Fries
Time: 60 minutes
When to eat it: Lunch, dinner, all day, every day
Perks: Gluten-free, paleo, vegan, no refined sugar
Sh*t You Need:
2 large Japanese sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, ground
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Chop 2 large Japanese sweet potatoes into wedges/fry-shaped pieces. 3. Place sweet P's on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. You may need to use two baking sheets if not all of the sweet P's can lie on one level (you don't want them on top of each other!). 4. Melt 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds 5. Mix in turmeric, cinnamon, sea salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. 6. Pour seasoning mixture over all sweet potatoes. Cook sweet P's for 45 minutes, tossing over at 15 minutes and at 30 minutes. 7.Eat and enjoy!!
